Az erős medencefóliával takart alapra egy réteg tavi talaj kerül, amely csak annyi tápanyagot tartalmaz, mely a betelepített számos vízinövény vízben történő táplálkozásához szükséges. Ez lehetetlenné teszi az algák túlzott elszaporodását. Csak a tényleges, kb. 2m mély úszózónában marad a fólia a zavartalan fürdőzés érdekében fedetlen. A sekély- és mélyvíz-zónák helyes aránya, valamint a megfelelő növényesítés eredményeként rövid időn belül létrejön egy olyan biológiai egyensúly, amely a szűrőt vagy vízcserét feleslegessé teszi. Emiatt feltétlenül ügyelni kell arra, hogy a tóba semmi további tápanyag - pl. nitrát, foszfát - ne kerüljön. Ezek az anyagok főként ürülékekben és mosószerekben fordulnak elő. Ezért a tó a kutyák és más nagyobb állatok számára is tabu.

For this reason the input of additional nutrients - nitrates, phosphates - must be prevented. These materials are most frequently found in excrements and detergents, so the pond is tabu for dogs and other bigger animals, too.
