The legal predecessor of Digital Ltd was founded as a co-operative in 1986, with a staff of 15. The major profile of the firm is the delivery of hardware and software turnkey-solution systems according to the requirements of the users. In the first year of operation we worked as a national brand-service of TPA computers (DEC compatible Microvax) due to the assignment with the Central Physics Research Institute, but soon, owing to the technological development and changing demands we expanded our business towards the market of IBM compatible computers. Owing to the changes in the economic conditions, since 1990 our company has been operating as a limited company, bases on real ownership. In 1989 - second in the whole country - we signed a contract with Hewlett Packard to distribute its computers and peripheries, then our firm became a Value Added Reseller partner of Hewlett Packard Hungary Ltd in 1991. Besides selling and installing computers and peripheries our firm lays special emphasis on providing accessories and supplements permanently. We have become authorized dealer of more manufacturers, such as Intel, D-Link and APC. The development of telecommunication technologies and the increasing demand for the high quality computer networks urged our firm to be able to construct even better and more complex networks. Therefore we contacted AT&T, the world-famous company for building and installing local networks, and by applying the Systimax PDS system of AT&T we built up the integrated network system for almost 100 branches of OTP Bank Corp. in 1994. One of the most pre-eminent network of our installed systems is the network of the OTP headquarters, which is provided with more than 1, 100 endpoints on nearly 80, 000- metre long fibre and copper cable. In the field of structured network cabling technologies more and more manufacturers have appeared with complex solutions, which has encouraged our firm to widen the scale of products.
