Our school was built at the end of the last century and it is one of the most beautiful buildings in Szentes. The first school-year began on 1st September 1888. At that time it was just a small building and the larger section was attached to it between 1918-24. 11 years ago it was completed with a new library which contains 37, 000 books, some of them deriving from previous centuries. Today 670 students attend our grammar school, and about 60 teachers are employed. There are 19 classes, specialized in languages and sciences (Biology and Maths), and our school was the first in the country to start the so-called drama faculty. It is still famous for it all over the country. Students in this type of class have extra lessons in Hungarian Literature and they have some other subjects like elocution, theatrical elements and dancing to improve their movement awareness.
