A Katona Borház Kft. 1996 őszén alakult vállalkozás, amely felélesztette a családi hagyományokat. Jelenleg 47 hektáron termesztünk szőlőt a Balaton déli oldalán, a boglári borvidéken.

Ezen a tájon már több, mint ezer éve termesztenek szőlőt. A terület adottságai igen jók, a klimatikus viszonyokat a Balaton víztükre kedvezően befolyásolja, a talaj változatos, jó szerkezetű, a táj szelíd lankáinak kitettsége is tökéletesen megfelel a szőlőtermesztés kritériumainak. Az itt termett borokat a finom szőlőzamatok és illatok, valamint a kiegyensúlyozott savszerkezet jellemzi. A legjelentősebb világ-fajták (Chardonnay, Zöldveltelini, Sauvignon Blanc, Tramini, Semillon, , Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot) mellett igazi magyar szőlőfajtákat (Leányka, Királyleányka, Olaszrizling) is termesztünk. A szőlőt boglári pincészetünkben dolgozzuk fel, kierjedt boraink egy részét budafoki pincénkbe szállítjuk további kezelésre, érlelésre. Itt történik a palackozás és ezután az értékesítés is. Fehérborainkat acéltartályokban, reduktív körülmények között tároljuk palackozásig, az elsődleges íz- és zamatanyagok minél tökéletesebb megőrzése érdekében, míg a vörösborokat minimum 2 évig tölgyfahordókban érleljük, ezután kerülnek palackozásra AKipróbálhattam minden tudásomat, ugyanis itt az egész borászati vertikum működött, a szőlőfeldolgozástól kezdve az üdítőital- és pezsgőgyártásig. Borkészítéstől a vermutkészítésig mindennel foglalkoztam, feladatom volt ezek tervezése, szervezése, irányítása. Mi készítettünk először Magyarországon aszeptikus (tartósítószer mentes) üdítőitalt, primőr bort Ferenc pincemester névnapja alkalmából (ez én lennék). Nemzetközi szinten is elismerték munkámat, két ezüstérmet is nyertünk a bordeauxi nemzetközi borversenyen a nyolcvanas évek közepén! Akkoriban ez csak tokaji bornak sikerült Magyarországon - rajtunk kívül. 1992-től a privát szférát erősítem, 1996 óta saját cégem borásza vagyok.

Katona Borház Ltd. is an enterprise founded in 1996 autumn that revived the family traditions. Nowdays we cultivate grape on 47 hectares in the south side of Balaton, in the wine-district of Boglár. On this land grape has been being cultivated for more than a thousand years, its fundamentals are really good: the stretch of the water of Lake Balaton affects the clime prosperously, the ground is varied and rich, has good construction, the slopes are gentle, the precipitation is also very favourable for grape cultivation. Wines fructified here are characterized by fine grape-tastes, scents, and balanced acids. Beside of the most significant world-types the real Hungarian grape-types can also be found in the cultivation (Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Cabarnet, Princessin, Italian Riesling). The fructified fruits are prepared in our wine-cellars in Boglár, our mellowed wines are transported into our wine-cellars in Budafok for further treatments, ripening. The bottled wines are kept there and we market them from there. Our white wines are kept in unoxidizable reservoirs until bottling in order to save the primary taste- and scent materials as perfectly as possible. The red wines are stored up for minimum two years in oak barrels, and only after that are they bottled. I attended the Viticultural Secondary School in Budafok, I took the final examination there in 1977 and then I practised the profession in Hungarovin. Then I was enrolled to the University of Horticulture where I got a degree as engineer in 1984. I spent my practical studies in Balatonboglár where I became a cellar-leader in 1985, the viticulturist if the famous BB. I could try all my knowledge, because there the whole viticultural verticum worked from the preparation of the grape to the production of soft drinks and champaign. I was busy with not only wine- but with vermut-preparation, my task was to consider, organize and direct them.
