A Társaság első üzleti éve 1990. január 1-jével vette kezdetét. A céget az állami tulajdonú Villamosenergiaipari Kutató Intézet alapította. Ez az intézet alapozta meg Magyarországon a villamosenergiarendszer védelmi filozófiáját és ebben az intézetben készültek 1949-ben az első magyar védelmi készülékek. Ettől kezdve a PROTECTA Kft. megalakulásáig ez az intézet biztosította a magyar villamosenergiarendszer védelmi készülékeit. A Társaság tehát több mint fél évszázados szakmai múltat tudhat maga mögött. Egy több lépcsős átalakulás végeztével 1997 februárjától megszűnt a cégben a közvetett állami tulajdon. Ez óta a Társaság teljes egészében magyar magántulajdonú cégként működik. Valamennyi tulajdonos ? részben közvetlenül, részben a Társaságban közvetlen befolyást biztosító részesedéssel rendelkező DIGIPROT Kft-n keresztül ? egyben a Társaság tisztségviselője, munkavállalója vagy volt munkavállalója. A Társaság az egyetlen vállalkozás Magyarországon, amely saját fejlesztésű villamosenergiaipari védelmeket és automatikákat állít elő. A cég termékválasztéka teljes körűen tartalmazza az összes olyan szokásos funkciót megvalósító készüléket, amely funkciók a nagy- és középfeszültségű villamos hálózaton felmerülhetnek ? beleértve az erőművi- és ipari alkalmazásokat is. A cég már alapításának évében megkezdte a digitális védelmi készülékek fejlesztését. Jelenleg a három digitális készülékcsalád teljes választékot kínál. The first business year of the Company started on the 1st of January 1990. The firm was founded by the state-owned Electric Power Research Institute (VEIKI) Co. This institute established the protection philosophy of the electric power system, and in 1949 this company produced the first protective devices in Hungary. Starting with this date up to the foundation of PROTECTA Co. Ltd. this institute produced all protective devices for the Hungarian electric power system. Accordingly the professional history of the Company extends to more than a half century. In February 1997, at the end of a multi-step reorganisation the direct state-ownership has been closed. Since this year the Company functions as a Hungarian, full privatised firm. All proprietors ? partly directly, partly through the DIGIPROT Co. Ltd, which has interests yielding direct influence to the Company ? are at the same time executives, employees or former employees of the Company. This Company is the only firm in Hungary, which produces own developed protection and automatic controllers for the electric power industry. The choice of products of the firm includes the full range of protection functions for the high and medium voltage networks, including power stations and industrial applications. In the year of foundation the company started the development of numerical type protection devices. At present the members of three device families offer a comprehensive choice.
